Peter Omelchenko: From Eastern European Folk Traditions to the American Stage

Since making his home in the United States, Peter has dazzled audiences at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage and served as the artistic director and conductor of the Washington Balalaika Society Orchestra. Many times he has been a sought-after guest artist and educator at the Balalaika and Domra Association of America’s national conventions.
Currently, Peter’s creative energy is channeled into the esteemed duo Musalliance and the innovative Concert à la Carte project. His expansive repertoire seamlessly blends Eastern European and international folk melodies, classical masterpieces, and his own original compositions.
Beyond his captivating stage presence, Peter is an accomplished arranger. His work has been featured in performances by orchestras worldwide, and he recently orchestrated a piece for superstar tenor Andrea Bocelli’s recording of “Lara’s Theme” from Doctor Zhivago.
A true multifaceted artist, Peter is also a dynamic presence in musical theater, contributing his talents as a singer, dancer, instrumentalist, and composer.
